Eleven people have been arrested under Operation Heliodor, in a crackdown on child sexual exploitation in the South Manchester area.

Six warrants have been executed and eleven people aged between 19 and 38 have been arrested for offences including; sexual activity with a child, attempted indecent assault, inciting a child into prostitution, abduction and rape.

Steven Woolfe MEP and UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Stockport commented, “In light of the 11 arrests in the South Manchester area under Operation Heliodor, I am meeting with the Greater Manchester Police Crime Commissioner next week to be briefed on whether the action taken so far by the police service and the relevant authorities are sufficient to protect the victims as well as to bring justice to those whom are found guilty.”

Detective Inspector Debbie Oakes of the Greater Manchester Police’s Protect Team, said: “Operation Heliodor is ongoing and, with this collaborative approach we will continue to target those involved in CSE. I fully anticipate more warrants and arrests as we continue in our investigation.”

Steven Woolfe continued, “With Debbie Oaks, Detective Inspector of Greater Manchester police anticipating more arrests as the investigation continues, I sincerely hope that this is not the tip of iceberg and the start of a bigger scandal which we have seen in Rotherham.”
