Bad idea to remove Ebola Checks

Bad idea to remove Ebola Checks

EBOLA CHECKS SHOULD REMAIN AT MAJOR ENTRY POINTS TO BRITAIN Protection from the deadly Ebola virus should not be limited to checks at Heathrow and Gatwick airports, says Ukip health spokeswoman Louise Bours. Public Health England has announced there will no longer be specialist staff at either Birmingham or Manchester airports, or at the Eurostar terminal in St Pancras railway station, London. People arriving at those destinations from Ebola hotspots in West Africa will now be screened over the phone instead. Ms Bours, MEP for the North West, said if concerns remain about the possibility of Ebola entering the country then checks should be made at all major entry points to Britain.  She said: “It’s good news that the checks will continue at Heathrow and Gatwick, but I don’t think Ebola has a particular preference for a point of entry into a country. “If there is a possibility of it coming into the UK through those two airports then why not other major airports, like Manchester, Birmingham or Glasgow? “Obviously it is heartening to know that the number of cases being reported in West Africa has fallen considerably since its peak. “However, let’s not pretend that is the reason for loosening the prevention procedures around the country. “This is clearly a cost cutting exercise and surely public health should not be placed at risk by the whim of an accountant’s spreadsheet.” ends Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-33635574...

The EU is now a cruel version of the IMF. It shows no tolerance for democracy, and no mercy for workers UKIP Deputy Leader Paul Nuttall, MEP for the North West, said today: “People on the Left who believe in democracy should look on in horror at what the European Union has done to Greece. “Socialists, trade union members and social democrats should by now have finally realised that the EU and its German enforcer have turned the Eurozone into nothing but a cruel version of the IMF. “The EU has shown it has no tolerance for national democracy, and no mercy for the...
