Open door to Romania and Bulgaria

Open door to Romania and Bulgaria

Feb 20, 2015

Romanian and Bulgarian migration on the rise, ONS data shows In response, UKIP Migration spokesman Steven Woolfe MEP said: “I am sure that the residents of the UK will be as alarmed by these ridiculously high numbers of people coming into Britain, as I am. UKIP warned that opening the door to Romania and Bulgaria on January 1st would lead to more economic refugees into the country. The politically correct establishment condemned us at the time – but we were right.  “Until our political elites state categorically that  EU membership is a major cause of the UK’s wage lowering, uncontrolled, mass migration and broken, unsecured borders they will continue to fail the British people. And our national public infrastructure, services and finances will continue to take the strain of hundreds of thousands of new EU residents in Britain each year. ” When it comes to immigration, voting Conservative or Labour equals the same outcome. Open borders and hundreds of thousands of EU citizens coming and going into Britain as they please.  The pressure on schools, hospitals and roads is increasing. It is time we took back control of our borders and who comes into our country  – but this can only happen by voting UKIP.” ENDS Notes to editor:...

Anger over E-cigs tax proposals

Anger over E-cigs tax proposals

Feb 20, 2015

News that the European Commission is considering hiking up tax on  electronic cigarettes has been described as a retrograde move by local MEP Paul Nuttall.   “The British government must stand up against these measures and UKIP undertakes to oppose any legislation from the EU to put tax on electronic cigarettes. “They are far healthier than traditional cigarettes but here the ever-controlling European Commission, which is normally hell-bent on protecting its citizens from harm, has its eyes on a tax grab. “As well as being a healthier alternative they are a source of jobs for innovative British companies and that should be assisted and not hindered by this retrograde move,” said Mr Nuttall, UKIP’s deputy party leader. “It has been shown that e-cigs help smokers give up tobacco and that should be encouraged as it is helping their quality of life and potentially saving the NHS huge sums of money.   “I have never seen a private pleasure that the EU does not want to tax. This move will hike up the cost of e-cigarettes and push more people back to more harmful tobacco products. “This move unmasks the real intent of the EU’s Tobacco Directive which was  to tax all cigarettes more and help governments make more money. “To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, ‘The EU’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidise it.’”   ends...

EU oven proposals slammed

EU oven proposals slammed

Feb 20, 2015

UKIP MEP Louise Bours turns the heat up on the EU over new oven ban Tomorrow new EU legislation will come into force which imposes a maximum power limit on ovens and hobs. The EU has previously banned traditional lightbulbs, powerful hoovers, old oven gloves and more. North West MEP Louise Bours stated, “Surely the EU has more important things to worry about? The continent is tearing itself apart and they are trying to ban powerful ovens.  Of course we want energy efficient appliances however there is already huge pressure from the market on these firms to provide this. It is not for the EU to impose another ill thought out blanket ban. Homeowners are perfectly capable of decided for themselves what power oven they want. Brussels refuses to understand that it cannot interfere in every part of our lives.” ENDS Notes to Editor-...
