Black Friday for Cameron

Black Friday for Cameron

Nov 28, 2014

Commenting on Cameron’s speech today, Paul Nuttall, UKIP’s deputy leader said, “With his back increasingly being pushed against the wall he is prepared to promise the voters anything to keep his job. “All these pledges, and we know how good he is at keeping them, depend on the Conservatives being in power after the General Election which is as certain as snow at Christmas. “He and his frightened Tory chums have seen how UKIP’s policies, particularly on immigration, have resonated with the public and he’s trying to sound tough. “But let’s not forget that in 2010 the Tories promised to take net migration back to tens of thousands a year. After becoming Prime Minister he repeated the pledge the next year and added, ‘No ifs. No buts. That’s a promise we made to the British people.’ “The reality is they have been steadily rising and the latest figures show the number of people arriving in the UK in the year to June 2014 hit 583,000, with almost two thirds of them from the EU,” said Mr Nuttall. “Meanwhile the huge influx of migrants into our already overcrowded land is leading to wage compression affecting millions of hard working people resident here. While cutting benefits will save some tax for the middle class it will not help the working class. “As always Cameron thinks his latest rhetoric will fool people into trusting him but the public are not stupid. They know Brussels is not interested in negotiating with us and holds all the cards. Cameron can huff and puff all his wants but he still does not want us to leave the EU. “It’s ‘Black Friday’ for shoppers, I think it’s ‘Black Friday’ for Cameron in terms of his future.”...

EFDD calls for Juncker sacking

EFDD calls for Juncker sacking

Nov 27, 2014

A motion of censure of the European Commission has today been submitted to the President of the European Parliament, in a move spearheaded by members of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group (EFDD) and other MEPs. The signatures of the required 76 members of the European Parliament were handed in to the office of President Schulz today. Forty-four signatures from the EFDD Group and 32 from non-attached members. UKIP MEP Steven Woolfe who was instrumental in gathering the required signatures said, “This motion of censure means there must now be a debate on the behaviour of President Juncker and a vote to remove the entire European Commission. “UKIP promised at the beginning of this mandate to be ‘EU rebels with a cause’, to hold the Commission to account and this censure motion shows that we mean business. We now hope members of other groups will get behind us to censure the Commission. This motion certainly means MEPs will have an opportunity to show their true colours and let their voters know where they stand on the actions of President Juncker.” In accordance with Article 119 of the Rules, the motion – supported by a tenth of Parliament – will be discussed and voted on by the European Parliament in plenary session in Strasbourg this...

Danger of new Hospital PFI scheme warning

Danger of new Hospital PFI scheme warning

Nov 27, 2014

A report pointing out that the new private finance model for NHS hospitals will cause even more debt than the existing system should sound loud warning bells, said UKIP Health spokesman Louise Bours MEP. “We all know the NHS is in dire financial straits and staggers from one dubious decision to another in terms of strategy and budget cuts. “This report by the independent think tank Centre for Health and the Public Interest  makes worrying reading and must not be brushed under the carpet,” said Ms Bours, North West MEP. It says that the higher cost of borrowing means that the move will ultimately be more expensive for NHS Trusts – but meanwhile private investors can expect a 15 per cent higher rate of return than under the old system at current market conditions. The new private finance projects (PF2) must be structured on a basis of 20-25 per cent equity and 75-80 per cent debt, compared to the 10 per cent equity and 90 per cent debt that was the norm for PFI hospitals. Of that equity investment, the Government will hold between 25-49 per cent making it a minority investor and taking on the both the risk and profit of its new PF2 role. “NHS Trusts are already financially crippled by PFI’s and this new model is said to be worse for them and leave the finances of the health service exposed to greater risk. “The Department of Health has admitted previous PFI schemes were ‘overambitious, expensive and did not deliver for patients’ and I am very concerned that the new model is going to make matters worse not better,” said Ms Bours. ends Louise Bours MEP has her own website: http://www.louiseboursmep.co.uk/  ...

Cameron caught lying at PMQs

Cameron caught lying at PMQs

Nov 27, 2014

UKIP Health spokesperson Louise Bours MEP has criticised David Cameron’s response to Mark Reckless first question as a UKIP MP, during Wednesdays PMQs. She said “Mr Reckless was asking a perfectly sensible question about Medway Hospital. Like all good constituency MPs he was raising an issue that will be of concern to many people in Rochester and Strood”. She continued “David Cameron’s assertion that UKIP doesn’t believe in the NHS and wants to break it up is a cheap shot, and a downright lie. There is a concerted effort from the established parties to peddle non truths and misinformation about UKIP and the NHS”. “I would suggest David Cameron, and Ed Miliband for that matter read UKIP’s policy on health, and get their facts right. It is a dangerous ploy to attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the British people with lies and falsehoods”. Louise Bours MEP has her own...
