EU Mowing through Common sense

EU Mowing through Common sense

Sep 29, 2014

Despite a pledge to cut red tape Eurocrats are actually increasing it – and petrol-driven lawnmowers are next for the chop. “Another round of nonsense emanating from the EU,” said local UKIP MEP Paul Nuttall. Such lawnmowers and chainsaws are among small gardening and handheld equipment being lined up to face tough emissions tests in the name of tackling global warming. The drive to cut emissions from combustion engines in ‘non-road mobile machinery’, also involves bigger items including excavators, bulldozers, crop harvesters, railcars, locomotives and inland waterway vessels such as river barges. “Talk about wanting to cut emissions, these overpaid petty bureaucrats emit enough hot air to last a lifetime and infuriate millions of hard working people just trying to get on with life,” said Mr Nuttall, deputy party leader. ‘These Eurocrats are fanatics. They are so blind to their own failings that they do not even realise the contempt which their hyperactivity breeds in the voting public. They just need to stop, take a deep breath and take a look at themselves.’ “Targeting petrol-driven lawnmowers is just another example of them mowing down common sense. A scythe is needed to hack through the nannying nonsense. “Like all of their rules it is likely to have unintended consequences such as some manufacturers abandoning the EU for more profitable markets and product owners being unable to get replacement parts.” ends...

Heywood and Middleton update

Heywood and Middleton update

Sep 25, 2014

It has been a great first couple of weeks at the Heywood and Middleton Parliamentary By-Election; where John Bickley is our excellent candidate. Last weekend saw what was perhaps the biggest action day ever in the North West with volunteers visiting from every corner of the region and beyond. Thanks to your hard efforts, we now have Labour worried in what is usually considered a safe constituency. Throughout their party conference in Manchester this week, senior unnamed figures in Labour have expressed concern that UKIP could take the seat on the same day as we are expected to gain Clacton on October 9th. We know that many of you will be attending conference in Doncaster, however our office will remain open ALL WEEKEND. On Saturday, we will be hosting a regional action day so if you are unable to attend conference or you only attend the Friday session, we would really appreciate your help. This will be followed by a national action day on Sunday when party members will be rallied from conference to come to Heywood and Middleton. Our office will be open from 9am on Friday and Saturday and 10am on Sunday at 27 Market Place, Heywood, Lancashire, OL10...
